Around 3 billion iPod touch and iPhone applications have been downloaded from the Apple Store, the latest figures from Apple say.
Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs stated, “In less than 18 months, three billion applications have been downloaded. This is quite unlike anything we’ve ever seen!”
“Apple Store is quite revolutionary, it offers iPhone and iPod touch users an unmatchable experience on other mobile devices, and this competition is unbeatable as of now.”
The rate of the application downloads is growing by the day, and Apple passed the 1 billion mark on 23 April last year, the 2 billion mark was crossed last year on 28 September.
For the very first time, late last year, the iPod touch downloads were more than the iPhone’s, there were 172 percent more iPod touch owners downloading from the iTunes App Store than the iPhone owners, this has been stated by Flurry Analytics, the mobile analysis firm.
